The keys come off very easily but the pentatonic notes are lovely, By = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Crocoglock Xylophone Musical Toy (Toy) It's already driving me insane having to repeatedly put the keys back on for my little ones. And the toy is rather lightweight. But the notes are clear and lovely and I am pleased to finally find something pentatonic and toddler (relatively anyway) friendly. So, yeah, a 3 star toy. |

I just hook it up to my laptop, pick some songs, and I'm good to go. The keys are map able so you can customize the controller, which is something you may wish to do when choosing effects. It comes with virtual dj LE edition, which is good, but you're probably going to want to upgrade to pro edition, which is about $50. Virtual dj has great functionality and is controllable by the unit. It also comes with a headphone piece so you can just use normal headphones instead of having to by dj ones if you're just going to use this at home. You'll probably want speakers; I just hook it up to my home Hi-Fi system. Great for anyone who wants to be a bedroom dj, do gigs at places like weddings, bars, house parties. However if you're working a club you should probably have more advanced gear. I would say the only drawback is the limited functionality on the effects side of... Accomplishes its goals well., By This review is from: Hercules DJ Console MK4 (Electronics) The first thing I noticed about the MK4 when I took it out of the box is how small it is. This thing really is tiny, and that's the point. You can sling this unit over your shoulder or slide it into your laptop bag and be on your way. Hercules even includes a nice plastic cover to protect the top surface. While it happens to also have shoulder-strap clip points on it, and they make mention of this in the packaging, said strap is oddly omitted from the box.The MK4 is fairly simple to use, and is designed to pair perfectly with the included VirtualDJ LE software. It can be mated with other packages like Megaseg or Traktor, and one can grab keymapping templates for the latter from the Hercules website. Speaking of the website, whether you be on MacOS or PC, you'll want o be sure that you install the drivers that came with the rig right away -and- let it run through any software and firmware updates. The DJ Console MK4 has a fantastic sound card in it; better than... Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Good value, By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Hercules DJ Console MK4 (Electronics) It's a good value and a great product. The only thing I wish it had was dedicated gain knobs. The software does do auto gain on both decks, but I prefer some more manual control. Speaking of the software, it's pretty good but they want a whopping $150 to upgrade to the pro version. The version you get is "last years" 6.x version (update it from virtualdj.com to the latest 6.x) but if you want 7.x Pro you need to pay $150. You can download a trial of 7.x but it only lets you use your controller for 10mins before disabling it. You can use a keyboard and mouse to keep trying it out for an unlimited amount of time. The main thing that's frustrating is you can't do any options/preferences at all with the version that comes with the controller, not even remapping a button or knob. As much as I want to remap, I can't see paying $150 just for that! The other missing features vs. pro are mainly a playlist and automixing. You wouldn't want to use automixing for an actual event, but... Read more |

I am a veteran player and am very impressed with the quality both in construction and sound from it. My child is even more interested in practicing now with the "cool" sounds he is getting from it and (probably most important to him) it looks cool.I researched several competitor guitars and found this one far superior for the price. The 3/4 size should last him through elementary school years and possibly beyond. 15 of 16 people found the following review helpful: Slick lil' geetar!, By Mike B "Mike" (Las Vegas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Dean Playmate EVO Junior Solid Body Electric Guitar, Classic Black, 3/4-Size (Electronics) Ok this thing is friggin rad!Pros: Small, fairly lightweight for a solid body, tuners are slightly better than what I was hearing (at least they're phillips screwed into the mechanism and not totally die cast and held into place with just the tuner covers like some cheaper acoustics I've owned) Cons: The bridge had to be adjusted and all of the pieces moved back. I didn't look up Gibson specs or anything but I just moved the low E's as far back as it would go while testing 12th fret harmonic vs 12th fret sound and I ended up about as far back as you can go before the screw that holds the piece on started hitting the string. It was dialed in just before the point where I'd have to cut the bolt down so it didn't hit the string. The rest of the bridge pieces are slightly less further back as the strings get higher tone, so it ended up stepping up from lowest to highest and looking like a set of stairs. This really isn't a con, as almost all guitars need to be... Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Nice 3/4 size Guitar, Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Dean Playmate EVO Junior Solid Body Electric Guitar, Classic Black, 3/4-Size (Electronics) This is a nice 3/4 size electric guitar, especially for the price. I say 3/4 size because it's perfect for a teenager or an adult with small hands. It's not the smaller 1/2 size that would be appropriate for an 8 year old or younger player.Better than average Chinese construction. The neck has a satin rather than smooth finish that keeps my hand from sticking, but took a little getting used to. The body is a nicely applied gloss black. The frets and fingerboard are well done, with no sharp edges. When it arrived, it needed some adjustments, but after setting the string height and intonation to "Gibson electric" factory specs, the action and intonation are fine. Both of these are easily set with the "tune-o-matic" bridge. I mention intonation because not all 3/4 size "short scale" guitars can be adjusted to intonate correctly, but this one can. Search the web for "intonation" and "Gibson guitar specs" for more info. Sadly, mine arrived with major... Read more |
