It is exactly what I expected. adequate and sounds like drums. The bass pedal, sticks, and cymbals are probably the cheapest thing I have ever seen. Flimsy cymbals that dent easily. The pedal is sheet metal and does not function well. I threw the sticks away right away and got a pair of junior sticks. The hi-hat stand is actually very nice and well built. The drums themselves are just low end. Not totally horrible. The snare has a cheap little thing on it to make the snare noise instead if chains. All in all, I purchased this set for my 2 year old to bang on and it works just fine for that.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME drum set!!, January 11, 2010
This review is from: GP Percussion GP50BL Complete Junior Drum Set (Blue, 3-Piece Set) (Electronics)
We bought this set in Green for our boys for Christmas and are absolutely thrilled! The boys love it!! And although the assembly instructions were a little on the vague side, my husband was able to put it together relatively easily in about a half an hour. We purchased this mainly for our 3 year old - who has been interested in drums ever since he started watching The Fresh Beat Band - but our 9 year old also gets use out of it. Honestly, even my husband uses it! It's perfectly sized for our 3 year old. And even though we knew it would be on the small side for our older boy (age recommendations are 3-8), he's still able to have a lot of fun with it and doesn't have much of a problem sitting at it. It's a great set to learn on and sounds authentic!! EXCELLENT quality for the price!

I'll start off admitting, I am not a drummer or overly familiar with the different quality levels of drums. However, I think I can safely say this set is at the low end of the quality spectrum. For the price, however, this is still a great value. The stands are all solid and seem to be of above average quality. The Hi-hat is very sturdy and is probably the best of the bunch. The drums are all perfectly fine to pound away on and get some basic drum skills down. They just don't sound quite right. I don't know how to better explain it. The bass drum isn't deep enough. The snare barely "snares". The tom sounds a little too "pingy". But, again, for a 6 year old to pound away and develop some rhythm, it is more than adequate. I was a little surprised how long it took me to put them together (~90 mins or so), but it was pretty straightforward. For some reason Blue was cheaper than the other colors which was perfect for me!

Oh, I almost forgot - the stool (throne) is... Read more
