My daughter started violin lessons Sept 2011, and we wanted an inexpensive violin for her to try out. I know nothing about violins, so my opinion is purely based on usability and durability. So far, 4 months into use, it has worked great. The case protects it nicely and the violin seems to be quality-made. I think for younger kids who are just starting out, this is a great purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars great starter violin, November 19, 2011

I bought this for my 5-year old as a starter violin. The price is unbeatable, and the added accessories are nice. I am not a violin player yet, but this sounds very nice. Why not 5 stars? The zipper on the case is very fragile, and will probably break easily: not a good match for a rambunctious 5-year old. There was not an extra bow included in with the two that I bought, (in case my 4-year old really needed the 1/10). I actually bought this as a 1/10 package, and the warehouse sent me the 1/8. I am planning on returning these to get the correct size. The rosin was cracked, and shattered into small pieces the first time we used it. Overall, though, a great starter package for toddlers.

Bought the violin for my 4 yr old son, when it arrived the teacher had to modify the bridge for the strings to get it to play properly. However, since then I've had no complaints with this product.
